Our deepest condolences to the victims of deadly mining explosion in Soma/Turkey
Rescuers pulled hundreds of miners trapped underground on Tuesday after an explosion and fire at a coal mine in a city located in western Turkey around 120 kilometers northeast of the Aegean coastal city of Izmir. The explosion in the coalmine triggered a fire that killed at least 300 workers, which looks to be the deadliest mining disaster in Turkey’s history.
Pearl Institute (Formerlt known as Anatolia Cultural and Dialogue Centre) expresses its deepest sympathies to the families who lost their loved ones to the mining disaster.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the miners and the Turkish nation.
